It is our strong belief that working closely with parents/carers is vital to the successful education and development of all pupils. To this end we engage with parents/carers in the widest possible variety of forums including parents’ evenings, coffee mornings, workshops, home/school diaries to name but a few.
A particular focus, on an annual basis, is placed on formal consultation in the form of a survey/questionnaire. This survey asks parents/carers to consider a variety of issues, for example the provision of after school activities, school lunches, or the effectiveness of communication between school and home. Along with all of the other channels of information sharing, these surveys help to guide certain directions that we might or might not be taking at Wyvern.
The feedback from this year’s survey was overwhelmingly positive once again. Families have told us how happy and supported their children feel here. In the comments, “amazing,” “supportive,” “lovely,” and “perfect” came up repeatedly. Parents have praised the individual effort we put in, the strong relationships we build, and how happy their children are at school, with many describing Wyvern as “the best place” for their child.
Some of the most appreciated aspects included:
- The warm, supportive, and caring relationships we build with students
- The wide variety of engaging activities – from swimming and trampolining to life skills and trips
- The small class sizes, how well staff know their child, and a calm, inclusive atmosphere
- Our commitment to helping every child learn at their own pace and feel proud of their progress
Parents have told us that their children love coming to school, are thriving emotionally and academically, and feel valued and happy.
Parents are also very welcome and indeed encouraged to give their views at any time to the Ofsted site Parent View which allows comments on 12 different aspects of Wyvern, from the quality of teaching to dealing with bullying and behaviour. Parent View can be found at http://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/.
